Microlawns
I was obsessed with tiny lawns for a while. These can be found all over California, USA. They are carefully tended, unnecessary oddities. For some reason, my photos made the news.
Absolutely stunning bikini strip type. About 2x5 feet, tapering to a 1 foot point atop its concrete pubis.
Approximately 10×4 feet. Just bigger than a large beach towel.
Rectangular strip about 2x7 feet, with rivulets of renegade grass spilling from the main reservoir. It was once a keystone, obviously, until a wedge of concrete fell into it from above.
This poor lawn probably saw better days before it wound up as a grizzly sign bearer. 3x4 foot keystone.
Unique dual-type keystone. About 6x4 feet, tapering to a 2.5 foot point. The kink in the line suggests tension; an ongoing elbow-shoving between the two properties.
About 8x6 foot triangle type, complete with its own retaining wall. Perfect for keeping marauding ladybugs at bay.
Extremely streamlined keystone, tapering to a point only 10 inches wide. Just enough room to sit with legs outstretched, toetips touching just so.
About three feet square. Makes a nice welcome mat when you’re exiting the car.
About 2x3 feet, triangular. Could probably hold a dulcimer with room to spare.
About 2x3 feet. The perfect size to hold a basket of bread when stopping to examine a grasshopper carcass.
