PHOTO DIARY.
I went to visit Patrick at the Comic Book Convention in San Diego.
The hall was a packed madhouse.
Lots of fanboys in full regalia. Patrick and I like to stand around muttering, "Buncha dorks." Then we giggle like little girls at the irony.
Stormtrooper waits for his girlfriend to emerge from the restroom.
Another patrols the halls with a replica weapon.
Two troopers befriend a lovely female Klingon in an inspiring moment of detente between the Star Wars and Star Trek clans.
Superman waits for the hotel shuttle.
Two Klingons in line at the Starbucks.
 A convincing Willy Wonka.
This dedicated manga fan completed her costume by carrying a big keysword prop. All day.
Plenty of students from Hogwarts, too. Interesting to note that Harry Potter fans had by far the most multi-ethnic makeup out of all the geek-posses at the Con.
A few official mascots posed for free pictures. Here's two Master Chiefs from Red vs. Blue, the machinima series based on the Halo engine.
Gloomy Bear was there, with claws out & ready.
 But Ice-bat was everyone's favorite.
Unable to contain myself any longer, I let my dork flag unfurl by getting a snapshot with Adiran Tomine, who I super-much dig. For some reason no one was at his autograph signing session. Does no man recognize his genius?!?
Anyway, after two days in San Diego I took the lovely Amtrak Surfliner home to L.A. Good times.

I rode the subway the other day.
Yes, L.A. has a subway. It's ridiculously clean, if a bit outdated technologically.
The stations have no ticket wickets, and fares are purchased on an honor system.
