Well, my 32nd birthday has come and gone. What a superb day. Some highlights:- Took the day off work. "You should never work on your birthday," quoth Nicki.
- Received a wacky "Give Your Meat" t-shirt from Eric over in Tokyo.
- Played tennis in the afternoon with Nicki and Jung. (My topspin is in its infancy.)
- Had dim sum at Royal Star, a traditional & authentic Chinese mega-restaurant inexplicably located in Santa Monica. Two words: fried mochi.
- Got treated by Big Bro and Nicki to dinner at the uber-hip A.O.C. on 3rd, which serves fancy-pants tapas nuevas with a heavy French influence. Me and Jung share the same birthday, so it was a two-fer. On the way out, we glimpsed demi-celeb Ryan Seacrest sitting at a crappy table way in the back by the kitchen doors.
- Went to Sweet Mary Jane's for dessert on Melrose. Three words: Almond Roca Cake.
- Stayed up late drinking wine and watching good ole MTV2 while Nik and Nancy Drew snoozed on the couch.

All this talk about gay marriage these days has me thinking of the state of Vermont, which is located in the far northeast corner of the United States. And when I think of Vermont, I think immediately of curry. But not just any curry -- I'm talking about the traditional New England variety, seasoned with just a touch of apple and honey, that goes so delectably well with a steaming cup of spiced cider on a snowy day.
